My work is connected to the planned construction of a new entrance to the city of Korolyov through the territory of the Losiny Ostrov National Park. I live on the border between the forest and the city, and I know this place well.
When I saw the news about the future road project, I was struck by the rhetoric in the texts: those opposing the construction used words like fragmentation, segmentation, cutting into pieces. I became interested in how these terms not only describe the territory, but also set its transformation in motion.
The project includes working with mapping services and satellite imagery, as well as constructing objects within the nature reserve. I use physical elements to model possible scenarios of future changes, and I trace the projected route of the road using a map scheme. These actions allow me to visualize a potential reality in which the space of the reserve might find itself.
For me, this work is a way to reflect on what happens to a landscape when it begins to be reassembled from the outside — through language, technology, and administrative decisions.
